Donald Trump’s recent interview with Joe Rogan has taken social media by storm, amassing over 25 million views on YouTube alone, eclipsing Kamala Harris’s appearance on other platforms.

The three-hour conversation covered topics ranging from UFOs and the JFK assassination to key election issues such as the border crisis and the federal income tax.

Trump’s ability to engage directly with Rogan’s massive audience highlights a stark contrast in media strategies between the two candidates as they appeal to crucial demographics ahead of the 2024 election.

Released on Friday night, the interview quickly attracted 300,000 views within the first 30 minutes, with numbers continuing to surge.

In comparison, Harris’s recent appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast garnered around 685,000 views over two weeks.

While Harris had been scheduled for her own interview with Rogan, a spokesperson confirmed she withdrew due to “scheduling conflicts.”

Following Trump’s record-breaking numbers, several liberal voices on X (formerly Twitter) urged Harris to join Rogan’s platform, arguing that engaging his large, predominantly male audience could help her campaign.

Rogan’s podcast audience represents a demographic Harris has struggled to capture.

According to Morning Consult, 72 percent of Rogan’s fans are male, and 46 percent are between the ages of 18 and 34—a group that recent USA TODAY/Suffolk University polling shows Trump is leading among by a margin of 53 to 37 percent.

Rogan’s audience also includes a significant Hispanic demographic, with 25 percent identifying as Hispanic. For Harris, whose appeal has been stronger among women (53 percent versus 36 percent for Trump), connecting with Rogan’s audience could provide a potential avenue to reach young male voters.

Rogan’s popularity spans generations and political affiliations, especially after he became more vocal against government mandates and restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Once perceived as left-leaning due to his support for issues like marijuana legalization, Rogan shifted more toward the center after clashing with mainstream media over various issues.

His experience with the media, including his public battle with CNN over its portrayal of his COVID-19 treatment, has resonated with fans who view him as an independent thinker.

During the podcast, Trump and Rogan touched on the reliability of polls, noting that Trump’s numbers appeared misleading in 2016 when he trailed Hillary Clinton yet ultimately won.

Following the episode, Rogan posted a clip of their conversation on X, asking his 730,000 followers to vote in an informal poll between Trump and Harris.

With over 181,000 responses, results skewed heavily in Trump’s favor, reflecting Rogan’s free-speech platform’s influence in shaping online discussions.

Rogan’s poll follows a similar effort by X owner Elon Musk, who ran his own informal poll in August with participation from millions of his 202 million followers.

Like Rogan’s, Musk’s poll showed a stark contrast in voter support for Harris, underscoring the challenges she faces among male voters—a trend that Rogan’s platform only reinforced.

Trump’s ability to resonate with Rogan’s audience has drawn criticism from Democratic strategists concerned about the former president’s effective use of non-traditional media to connect with younger male voters.

As Election Day approaches, Trump’s media strategy, reaching voters on popular platforms outside the traditional campaign circuit, may serve to strengthen his standing with this demographic.

Meanwhile, Harris faces mounting calls to engage with Rogan’s audience directly, with many suggesting that her campaign risks missing a vital opportunity to close the gap between undecided and younger voters.
