The Republican National Committee (RNC) and Trump’s campaign have raised concerns with Pennsylvania’s Secretary of the Commonwealth, alleging voter suppression at early voting sites following the arrest of a Trump supporter in Delaware County.

The incident involved Pennsylvania GOP State Committeewoman Val Biancaniello, who was reportedly detained for encouraging voters to remain in line at a polling location.

RNC Chairman Michael Whatley posted a video on social media platform X on Monday, showing Biancaniello advising voters to “stay in line” as she was escorted by police.

In his message accompanying the video, Whatley stated, “A supporter of President Trump’s was arrested today for encouraging people to stay in the early voting line and cast their ballots freely in Pennsylvania. This follows reports from across the commonwealth that voters are being turned away in conservative areas. This is voter suppression from the left. Do not let them turn you away. GO VOTE!”

The video shows a bystander recording the arrest, audibly reacting, “Wow. Wow. Wow. That’s crazy! You locked her up? That is insane, man!”

After her arrest, Biancaniello posted on X, stating she had committed no wrongdoing and claimed she was simply encouraging voters to remain in line to cast their ballots. “Stay in line and #Vote!” she wrote. “They arrested me, and I didn’t break any laws. I encouraged people to stay in line and vote because the Democrats were discouraging voters from in-person voting today in Delaware County.”

She further alleged that election workers had directed voters to another site in Chester Heights with a shorter line, only for those voters to be turned away due to a lack of mail-in ballot applications at the alternative location. “This is voter suppression in Delaware County, Pennsylvania,” she added.

The RNC released a statement indicating that it had issued a letter to Pennsylvania’s Secretary of the Commonwealth earlier in the day, expressing concerns over what it described as “discouragement” tactics against in-person voting.

The letter alleged that voters across Pennsylvania had reported being informed that “computers are down,” that certain voting sites would “be closing early,” and that mail ballots might not be counted.

The letter, sent on behalf of both the RNC and Trump’s campaign, called for state officials to address these concerns as Pennsylvania voters approach the final day to request mail-in ballots in person.

Regarding Biancaniello’s arrest, Delaware County spokesperson Ryan Herlinger provided a statement to the Delaware Valley Journal, saying, “On Monday, October 28, 2024, an incident occurred at the Voter Service Center located at the Government Center Building in Media, PA, resulting in the arrest and removal of a woman who, according to multiple eyewitnesses, was disruptive, belligerent, and attempting to influence voters waiting in line.”

He explained that the behavior led to multiple complaints from voters on-site, prompting Delaware County Park Police—who handle security at the Government Center Building—to respond to the incident.Sh
