Elon Musk, the billionaire entrepreneur and owner of X (formerly Twitter), has once again used his platform to weigh in on politics, this time targeting former Trump National Security Advisor John Bolton.

As controversy continues to swirl around President-elect Donald Trump’s unorthodox Cabinet nominations, Musk directed his characteristic sharp wit toward Bolton, who has been vocal in opposing Trump’s choices.

Musk’s critique came after Bolton publicly condemned Trump’s nominees for key Cabinet positions, including Representative Matt Gaetz for Attorney General and Tulsi Gabbard for Director of National Intelligence.

Bolton called Gaetz “totally incompetent” for the role and accused him of being “a person of moral turpitude.”

He urged Senate leadership to oppose Gaetz’s nomination, stating, “The Senate’s new leadership should tell the President-elect that he is endangering Republican Senators by forcing a vote in favor of Gaetz’s nomination. The leadership should insist that this nomination be withdrawn.”

Bolton also appeared on CNN, where he advocated for the Senate to unanimously reject the nominations of both Gaetz and Gabbard. “These nominations are reckless and should be opposed at all costs,” Bolton argued.

In response, Musk took to X to lampoon Bolton’s comments, writing, “Just do the opposite of whatever Bolton recommends 😂.” The post quickly gained traction, resonating with Musk’s audience and fueling further debate over Bolton’s criticism.

Trump’s Cabinet picks have sparked strong reactions across the political spectrum. His decision to nominate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Secretary of Health and Human Services and Matt Gaetz as Attorney General has drawn praise from his supporters and sharp criticism from detractors.

Bolton’s opposition reflects the broader division within the Republican Party over Trump’s approach to governance.

Trump, who has long emphasized his willingness to challenge the status quo, has made it clear that his Cabinet choices reflect his agenda. Gaetz, a staunch Trump ally, has vowed to address perceived politicization within the Department of Justice.

Meanwhile, Gabbard, a former Democratic Congresswoman, has pledged to focus on national security reform and counterintelligence efforts as Director of National Intelligence.

Musk, who has undergone a political evolution in recent years, has positioned himself as a defender of free speech and a critic of “woke” ideologies.

His comments on Bolton highlight his broader support for Trump’s agenda and his willingness to challenge establishment figures, including those within the Republican Party.

While Bolton’s criticisms have sparked debate, they have also drawn backlash from Trump’s supporters, who view the former National Security Advisor’s opposition as out of touch with the current political landscape.

Musk’s pointed commentary reflects the broader shift in conservative politics, where figures like Bolton are increasingly sidelined in favor of more unorthodox and populist voices.

As Trump’s nominees prepare for Senate confirmation hearings, the internal divisions within the Republican Party and the broader political debate surrounding the incoming administration’s policies are expected to continue dominating headlines.

Musk’s remarks, meanwhile, underscore the increasingly significant role of high-profile individuals outside traditional politics in shaping public discourse.
