Tom Brady, the legendary former NFL quarterback, finally got the chance to try the famous Thanksgiving dish known as Turducken during Fox Sports’ NFL Thanksgiving broadcast.

But while Brady had no shortage of praise for the meal, calling it “amazing” in his conversation with broadcast partner Kevin Burkhardt, fans quickly pointed out a mistake in the commentary booth that left the dish incomplete.

Brady and Burkhardt each took a bite from what appeared to be two legs of Turducken.

However, it turns out that what they were eating wasn’t actually Turducken at all, but simply a turkey leg.

The misunderstanding arose because the “legs” in a traditional Turducken dish are actually made from the thigh joints of a deboned turkey, not a mix of turkey, chicken, and duck as the dish is traditionally known.

This means that Brady, despite his enthusiasm, had only tasted turkey, not the full Turducken experience.

Fans quickly pointed out the mistake on social media. One user responded to an NFL clip of Brady and Burkhardt enjoying their meal, writing: “No duck or chicken in a turkey leg”

Another fan joked, “The goat going in on that leg, hes gonna be sick after years of plant based that rush of meat protein is gonna hit like a truck lol”

A third added: “Note to @NFL there is no #Turducken in turkey legs! They are eating Tur in that image! ”

Despite this minor misstep, Brady, who has followed a strict diet throughout his football career, is known for diving into a full Thanksgiving meal during the holiday season.

According to his TB12 website, Brady typically enjoys a holiday feast, though his body coach Alex Guerrero has stated that Brady prefers “local, free-range turkey without antibiotics” for his Thanksgiving dinner.

The tradition of NFL players and broadcasters eating turkey legs and Turducken during Thanksgiving broadcasts dates back several decades.

It all began in 1989, when legendary broadcaster John Madden, alongside Pat Summerall, awarded a turkey leg to Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Reggie White following a 27-0 victory over the Dallas Cowboys.

Eight years later, Madden took the tradition a step further by introducing Turducken to the broadcast when a New Orleans Saints public relations staffer brought him the dish to try.

Nearly three decades later, Madden’s turkey and Turducken ritual has become an iconic part of NFL Thanksgiving broadcasts, with players and broadcasters alike enjoying the quirky tradition.

Despite the small mix-up involving Brady and Burkhardt, the moment added another memorable chapter to the ongoing Thanksgiving tradition in the NFL.
