While Georgia’s political landscape has shifted toward the center, this win reinforced Trump’s support base in the South and added an essential boost to his electoral count.
Throughout the campaign, Trump and Harris invested heavily in Georgia, recognizing the state’s changing political dynamics.
Harris focused her outreach on urban centers like Atlanta and on expanding turnout among younger and minority voters.
Meanwhile, Trump’s strategy concentrated on mobilizing rural and suburban voters who backed him in previous elections, along with focusing on issues like economic growth, energy policy, and national security that resonated with Georgia’s conservative-leaning electorate.
Here’s what the data said prior to the election:
According to U.S. News & World Report’s reporting on Georgia:
Mail Ballots Returned as of Nov. 5: 265,648

That said, turnout had been “shattering” early voting records in the Peach State, with Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger saying in an Oct. 22 news release that the state is “tested and ready.” About 56% of Georgians who had cast early ballots were female, according to the University of Florida.
