In the wake of Joe Biden’s controversial pardon of his son Hunter Biden on Sunday evening, venture capitalist and Sequoia partner Shaun Maguire made startling claims regarding Hunter’s behavior as a tenant in Venice, California.

Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, with his attorney Abbe Lowell, right, arrive for a press conference outside the United States Capitol where Biden spoke to reporters and offered to publicly testify in House Republican’s request on Dec. 13, 2023 in Washington, D.C.

According to Maguire, Hunter owes his family over $300,000 in unpaid rent and once attempted to settle the debt using unconventional and offensive artwork.

Maguire took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the allegations, labeling Hunter as an “absolute shit bag” and detailing his experience as a landlord to the younger Biden.

Maguire stated that Hunter rented a high-end property in Venice from 2019 to 2020 but failed to pay rent for over a year.

In a post that quickly gained traction, Maguire wrote: “True story. Hunter was our tenant in Venice, CA. Didn’t pay rent for over a year. Tried to pay w/ art made from his own feces. Absolute shit bag.”

When pressed by users for further details, Maguire elaborated: “Indeed, he tried to pay w/ a book of art made from his own feces. But those aren’t worth anything except when money laundering.”

Hunter Biden has previously made headlines for his unconventional art career, selling paintings through a Manhattan gallery for exorbitant prices, often to anonymous buyers, a move criticized for potential ethical concerns and links to political donors.

According to Maguire, the monthly rent for the Venice property was $25,000.

He revealed that his family never received payment for more than a year and that attempts to recover the debt were met with resistance.

Maguire claimed his family felt intimidated, stating: “It’s kind of a scary family to go after.”

He further alleged that Hunter “changed the locks and used Secret Service to enforce” access to the property, effectively barring the Maguire family from their own home.

In response to online comments about the property’s condition, Maguire quipped: “The walls were too high on cocaine to talk.”

Maguire’s allegations came shortly after Joe Biden issued a sweeping pardon to Hunter, covering any federal crimes committed between January 1, 2014, and December 1, 2024.

This unprecedented move has drawn widespread criticism, with many questioning its implications for justice and accountability.

Maguire addressed the pardon directly, asking on X: “So what happens to the $300k+ in back pay rent that Hunter Biden owes my family from 2019-2020? Is that pardoned now? Thanks Joe.”

As of now, Maguire has not provided additional evidence to substantiate his claims, though he assured followers he has “lots of proof” regarding the alleged artwork.

The allegations against Hunter Biden add another layer of controversy to his already contentious history.

While the presidential pardon may shield him from federal legal consequences, questions about his personal conduct and financial dealings continue to fuel public scrutiny.
