Actor Jamie Foxx has sparked laughter and conversation with his new Netflix comedy special, Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was…, released on Tuesday.

In the special, Foxx jokes about his own near-death experience and takes aim at disgraced music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs, referencing the controversies surrounding the producer.

“I left them parties early, I was out by 9:00,” Foxx quipped during his standup routine. “Something don’t look right. It’s slippery in here,” he added, drawing laughs as he referred to the authorities’ discovery of over 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lube during raids of Combs’ properties earlier this year.

Foxx, who suffered a life-threatening stroke last year, opened the special by addressing the rumors that circulated about his health. “The internet tried to kill me,” the Django Unchained star joked, referring to unfounded claims that he had died or been harmed.

“The internet said that Puffy tried to kill me,” Foxx continued, drawing a mix of shock and humor from the crowd.

He quickly added, “I know what you’re thinking: Diddy?” before recounting his decision to avoid staying late at parties hosted by the music mogul.

During the skit, Foxx also shared details about his recovery journey, crediting God and the power of prayer for his survival. “I saw the tunnel, I didn’t see the light,” Foxx said, referencing his coma.

“It was hot in that tunnel. Am I going to the wrong place or something? Because I look at the end of the tunnel, and I thought I saw the devil, like, ‘Come on, nigga,’ or was that Puffy?”

Foxx’s comments come as Sean “Diddy” Combs faces mounting legal troubles.

Combs has been in federal custody since September 16 after his arrest on a series of charges, including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, arson, bribery, and obstruction of justice.

If convicted, Combs faces life in prison. He has pleaded not guilty and has been denied bail multiple times. His trial is set to begin on May 5.

In addition to the criminal case, Combs is also facing over 120 civil lawsuits filed by attorney Tony Buzbee.

These lawsuits span decades of allegations, with victims accusing the music mogul, his associates, and affiliated entities of crimes ranging from abuse and coercion to bribery and obstruction.

Foxx’s comedy special blends humor with serious undertones, including moments of reflection on his health scare.

While making light of his experience, he also expressed gratitude for surviving a near-fatal medical emergency.

The special adds another layer of public interest to the ongoing controversies surrounding Combs, who has been a towering figure in the entertainment industry but now faces legal battles that could define the rest of his life.

Foxx’s lighthearted yet pointed jabs remind audiences of the stark contrast between the humor on stage and the gravity of real-world events.
