Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s Capitol Hill charm offensive to secure confirmation as Secretary of Health and Human Services is making waves.
As Fox News reported, the environmental activist and political scion appears to be aligning with President-elect Donald Trump’s policies, particularly on abortion and agricultural regulations, according to Senator Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala.
Tuberville revealed Kennedy’s positions after their meeting, stating the nominee “backs Trump 100%” on abortion. Trump’s well-known stance advocates leaving the decision to individual states while allowing limited exceptions, such as when the mother’s life is at risk or in cases of rape or incest.

Tuberville emphasized that Kennedy’s views have “evolved” to mirror Trump’s.
“We talked about abortion,” Tuberville told reporters. “Kennedy said, ‘Whatever President Trump supports, I’ll back him 100%.’ He understands Roe v. Wade is gone and believes it’s up to the states now.”
Tuberville, a staunch pro-life advocate, also expressed agreement with Trump’s pragmatic approach, appreciating that states have the opportunity to vote on the issue.
Beyond abortion, Kennedy addressed the agricultural sector, another crucial issue for Tuberville’s Alabama constituency. Tuberville said Kennedy is committed to avoiding overreach in regulating farmers, even as he maintains his longstanding critiques of processed foods and pesticides.
“Kennedy understands our farmers are in trouble,” Tuberville said. He also stated that he’s “on board” with protecting their livelihoods and ensuring family farms survive.
Farmers, however, remain apprehensive. Some are skeptical of Kennedy’s nomination, fearing his outspoken criticism of modern farming techniques could result in overly restrictive policies. A Michigan soybean and corn farmer described Kennedy’s potential confirmation as a “danger” to the industry.
Even Trump’s comments about letting Kennedy “go wild on health” and shake up the system have stoked fears among agricultural stakeholders. Tuberville acknowledged these concerns, noting that while food safety is a priority, excessive regulation could harm farmers.
“We want to make sure that we have farmers that can make a living.”

As Kennedy works to allay Republican fears and build trust, his alignment with Trump’s policies on abortion and agriculture appears strategic. Whether it’s enough to gain Senate confirmation remains uncertain, but Tuberville’s comments suggest Kennedy is making headway.
