A newly released U.S. House report has implicated Alyssa Farah Griffin, a co-host of ABC’s The View, in potential witness tampering during the congressional investigation led by former Rep. Liz Cheney into the January 6, 2021, Capitol breach.

The report, authored by House Subcommittee on Oversight Chairman Barry Loudermilk (R-GA), recommends a criminal investigation into Cheney, citing Griffin’s involvement in “coaching” key witness Cassidy Hutchinson ahead of her testimony.

Griffin, a former spokeswoman for President Donald Trump, reportedly communicated with Hutchinson extensively in the months leading up to her testimony, according to the report.

Hutchinson, who served as a Special Assistant to the President and Coordinator for Legislative Affairs under White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, became a central figure in the hearings due to her testimony against Trump.

The Oversight Committee stated, “In the months prior to Hutchinson’s explosive private and public testimony, Cheney communicated with Hutchinson, both directly and through an intermediary—Alyssa Farah Griffin—while Hutchinson was represented by her attorney, Stefan Passantino.

The Select Committee conducted six transcribed interviews of Hutchinson in total. Passantino represented Hutchinson for the first three interviews.”

The report alleges that Griffin and Hutchinson collaborated to shape Hutchinson’s narrative, including a dramatic shift in her testimony after Cheney’s involvement.

Text messages between Griffin and Hutchinson, released on social media, indicate their shared disdain for President Trump. In one exchange, Hutchinson asked Griffin, “Can you tip off Liz?” Griffin replied, “I am happy to tip Liz off,” suggesting she was aware of Cheney’s intended direction for the investigation.

Hutchinson’s testimony during the hearings included claims that Trump lunged for the steering wheel of his vehicle in an attempt to return to the Capitol after Secret Service agents deemed it unsafe. She also described Trump’s actions as “unpatriotic” and “un-American.”

Following the hearings, Hutchinson admitted during a televised interview that she had backchanneled communications with Griffin for over a year, bypassing her former attorney at one point. “I corresponded with Alyssa Farah Griffin to backchannel for a third interview without my former attorney’s knowledge at the time,” Hutchinson stated.

The House report asserts that Griffin and Hutchinson “colluded to create a false story” to justify Hutchinson’s third interview with the Select Committee.

It also highlights significant changes in Hutchinson’s testimony after her interactions with Griffin and Cheney.

Griffin’s alleged involvement in witness tampering could lead to legal consequences, adding to a tumultuous week for ABC.

Earlier this week, the network reportedly settled a $16 million defamation lawsuit brought by President-elect Trump.

Additionally, ABC executives are reportedly considering a shakeup of The View, including adding pro-Trump voices and implementing stricter oversight of its co-hosts.

Far-left co-hosts like Sunny Hostin have already been required to read on-air legal disclaimers following false statements about Trump and other conservatives.

Griffin’s potential legal jeopardy could further complicate ABC’s efforts to manage controversies surrounding the program.

As the fallout from the report continues, both Griffin and ABC face mounting scrutiny over their roles in the January 6 investigation and subsequent legal and reputational challenges.
