Monday’s episode of The View turned fiery as co-host Whoopi Goldberg clashed with Alyssa Farah Griffin over President Joe Biden’s decision to pardon his son, Hunter.

Griffin slammed Biden for allegedly misleading the public after repeatedly stating he would not issue a pardon for his embattled son, as reported by Fox News.

“I take issue with lying about it,” Griffin said.

“I wanted to ask [Biden] when he came on The View, but the thought was he said so many times he wasn’t going to pardon him. That, to me, is lying to the public. It’s disappointing and bad for our institutions.”

Goldberg, visibly irked, fired back, “I would stop calling it a lie.”

She suggested that Biden’s change of heart might not have been premeditated.

The debate followed Biden’s announcement on Sunday that he pardoned Hunter despite earlier promises to avoid interference in the Justice Department’s decisions.

In a statement, Biden justified his move, claiming, “From the day I took office, I said I would not interfere with the Justice Department’s decision-making, and I kept my word even as I have watched my son being selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted.”

Griffin wasn’t buying it. “Why repeatedly say you’re not going to and then do it? The half of the country that doesn’t support Biden is looking at a system that only benefits the powerful,” she argued.

Goldberg then shifted the focus to former President Donald Trump, claiming his 2016 victory might have influenced Biden’s actions. “We’ve elected somebody who was in a similar situation, who didn’t have a drug problem, who knew what he was doing,” Goldberg said, suggesting Biden might have reconsidered his stance after witnessing Trump’s actions and the public’s acceptance of them.

Co-host Sunny Hostin chimed in, alleging Hunter’s legal troubles were politically motivated. “Hunter was only indicted because his last name is Biden,” Hostin declared.

While Goldberg maintained that Biden likely didn’t intend to pardon Hunter initially, she speculated that the president grew weary of playing by the rules in a system where others don’t.

“Why am I busting my behind to stay straight and do this when nobody else is?” Goldberg said, summarizing Biden’s possible reasoning.

“Look. He’s the president, the sitting president, and he can do whatever he wants to until his time is up,” Goldberg stated.

Despite Goldberg’s defense, Griffin remained resolute, arguing the president owed the public honesty.

“I respect it as a parent. I understand why he would do it, but why lie about it for so long?”

The clash underscores growing frustration among conservatives who see Biden’s actions as emblematic of political double standards, while his defenders insist he acted out of fairness to his son.
