U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested the owners of a Texas bakery after discovering eight illegal aliens working at the business.
The owners of Abby’s Bakery in Los Fresnos, Texas, allegedly admitted they were aware the workers were in the country illegally and had no authorization to work in the United States.
ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents entered the bakery on February 12 and made contact with Leonardo Baez and Nora Alicia Avila-Guel, both Mexican nationals who hold legal permanent resident status.

According to a criminal complaint obtained by Breitbart Texas, the agents found eight illegal aliens working in the establishment.
The complaint states that Baez and Avila-Guel admitted to knowing all eight workers were unlawfully present in the country and had no legal right to work.
They also reportedly acknowledged that they were knowingly harboring illegal aliens, a violation of 8 U.S. Code § 1324.
During the investigation, agents interviewed at least two of the illegal aliens, who confirmed they had no legal documentation allowing them to remain in the United States.

The workers also stated that the owners of the donut shop were aware of their illegal status.
According to the complaint filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, the HSI special agent who led the investigation said, “The apprehension of the aliens was the result of a worksite enforcement action.”
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas reviewed the evidence and determined there was sufficient cause to file charges against Baez and Avila-Guel for harboring illegal aliens.
The arrests come amid increased efforts by federal authorities to crack down on individuals and businesses that employ or harbor illegal migrants.
The Trump administration’s Border Czar, Tom Homan, and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem have both vowed to take action against those violating immigration laws.
Noem recently issued a warning to illegal aliens attempting to enter or remain in the U.S., stating, “We will hunt you down,” as reported by Breitbart Texas.

Homan also warned that elected officials who attempt to obstruct federal immigration enforcement efforts could face prosecution for interfering with law enforcement operations.
The case against the bakery owners highlights the ongoing enforcement push against businesses that knowingly employ illegal workers.

The Biden-Harris administration faced criticism for scaling back workplace immigration raids, but the current approach under the Trump administration appears to be a return to stricter enforcement.
Federal authorities have not yet disclosed whether additional charges will be filed against the detained illegal aliens. The case remains under investigation.
